Hello fellow cold plungers!

First, thanks to you all for sharing what you learned! I really liked what Joe (polarB) had done with his version 2 design with having as much as possible inside the cooler (submersible DC pump and filter housing). I spent a lot of time sitting in my empty cooler trying to decide where to place everything including my inlet and outlet bulkheads. I am 6’3” and 220 lbs so I really wanted to have everything out of the way as much as possible. I have my system sitting in my garage but I still really wanted to minimize leak risks! I have my chiller sitting in a plastic tray with a garden hose bulkhead drain attached to it. I will add more pictures and products soon.

Pickleballguy changed the title to Grizzly 400 Build with AA 1/4HP Chiller .

FYI there is a Grizzly 450 cooler about to hit the market, which would be ideal for tall folks!

I like it! Great job figuring out how to keep some components inside the tub. It looks to me like they would be out of the way even for a tall person. My only concern would be having the chiller without space on the sides but I bet you will be fine as the chiller doesn't need to work that hard. I would keep an eye on it during the initial cooling phase if you didn't use ice to help it out.

wintermute Good point on the chiller side clearance. I realize it’s not ideal since there are air filters on the sides. I feel the airflow coming out of the back of the chiller so it’s definitely moving some air. So far no issues with reaching and maintaining set temperature at 43F. Although, ambient temperature isn’t very high in Tennessee yet.
