UV Light Sanitation questions.

Has anyone explored UV light purification vs. Ozone for sterilizing bacteria growth? I've read from other on the hydrogen peroxide schedule but I am planning on putting mine inside my garage so I've read to probably steer away from Ozone but the UV filter is interesting because it would not be sitting in the tub (I've read UV light exposed to plastic can cause it to deteriorate over time). Here is an example of one UV Light Filter.

I want to set this up efficiently and effectively for the long-haul and so I would love to hear feedback and thoughts if this would be necessary in addition to hydrogen peroxide to where I would have to refill it less frequently and require less maintenance or maybe it's not worth the extra spend?

I looked into it and it's expensive and creates more complicated plumbing. It wasn't worth it when I can just change the water once a month which for me is not much of a hassle. I'm sure it works well though.

I do have the Grizzly plug w/ hose connection to drain from garage. These are some of the UV filters I found although I'm not quite sure how to measure if the Tetrapond or Home Depot would be enough to do the job or not... Based on some research my setup I'm thinking about it: outlet > pump > UV light > filter > chiller > intake.

I'm good at following directions but I'm not a natural at plumbing/connections/DIY stuff. Would adding a UV really make it more complicated to setup?

I would just make sure the UV system supports at least your maximum flow rate. The 55 watt model I'm sure would work great and it has 1" fittings you could easily reduce. I would be interested to see how effective this is and how long it will extend the time between water changes.

wintermute how do I know what my max flow rate is? Below is what I bought and plan to put together. And would it make sense to have it setup in this way…outlet > pump > UV light > filter > chiller > intake?

Pump: Danner Aqua-Mag 950 (500-700 GPH)

Filter: Culligan HF-360B Standard Duty 3/4" (???)

Chiller: Active Aqua 1/4 HP Chiller (396-925 GPH)

surfdog08 I also found this 13 & 18 watt option that are less expensive than the Home depot 55-watt model

surfdog08 Your max flow rate will be MUCH less than the max of those units so you'll be fine. Mine is around 5-6 GPM.
