i was wondering what everyones feedback on having the components internal vs having them external.
it seems like most people are going with external pump/filter - as far as i can tell this is because you can leave the pump on when you plunge and the moving water with break the thermal barrier.
for my setup - i will be using mine in a finished basement - so minimizing leak possibilities is my main goal.
i plan to power everything down before plunging- i use my hands to move water around to break the thermal barrier.
i plan a build similar to this: July 9, 2023 - YouTube (his original build video is here: Grizzly 400 Completed Build. 2 Bulkheads with internal components. - Open-Source Cold Plunge
in this setup he uses a 24v dc pump with a speed controller. i like the idea of being able to control speed - but i would also like to be able to protect the chiller with a Master/switched power strip (so if the pump shuts off, the chiller will too). as i understand it the controller will still have power even if the pump errors out. not sure how to get around this easily except for using an A/C pump on a rheostat (though ive heard that isnt very good for some devices)
any feedback is appreciated.
