Goal: Sanitize my plunge with strictly hydrogen peroxide (H202)
Desired Level: between 100ppm - 200ppm
I have gone 2 months maintaining clean water using this method with no problems. However, I always shower before I get in the plunge. So this in and of itself is a success.
Now the interesting part: I think my levels might have been much lower than I thought. I was using Bartovation 0-100ppm test strips to determine my levels. With fresh city water I would add 1oz of 35% H202 and it would show up as dark blue, or what I would assume was 100+ppm. I would only have to add 1/4oz H202 every 3-4 days to maintain the level. Recently, I purchased test strips capable of testing 0-400ppm and I discovered that my actual H202 level, according to the new strips, is and probably often has been < 100ppm.
So I did a chemistry experiment, I calculated some H202 concentrations between 200 and 400ppm and mixed them up. The new test strips were accurate. The 0-100ppm strips started reporting 100 (dark blue) before they should have. So this leads me to think that my batch of the bartovation 0-100ppm test strips are possible too sensitive. Either that or I just can't discern the difference in the darkest blue shades. I do not have access to lab grade equipment at home so take this experiment with a grain of salt, but I did my best.
I have currently been slowly adding much more H202 to my plunge than I would originally do in order to get to that 100ppm reading on the higher range strips.
